33 Weeks...

Time seems to be flying by at the moment… hope it carries on until April!

Lots of lovely movement this week, Mr O and I are having all kinds of fun trying to guess what's poking out…is it a hand, a foot or even a bum!  Love it!

Sleep has become even more elusive, which has lead to a general sense of tiredness, but with only 2 Mondays left at work I'll soon be able to put my feet up.

I also discovered my first stretch mark this week…its only tiny and its around an old scar, but its still annoying.  Extra Clarins tonic for me to stop anymore appearing.

This Week I've Been...

…enjoying the blue sky this morning

…watching the great British Sewing Bee and feeling guilty for neglecting my sewing machine

…trying to eat a bit more healthfully

This salad was inspired by the Rainbow Salad I had at The Rum Kitchen last weekend and is super easy to make.

Peel and dice a butternut squash, place in a baking tray drizzle with olive oil and crush over a clove of garlic, give the tray a good shake so all the cubes of butternut squash are covered.  Roast in the oven for about 50mins (or until soft) at 200’C.  Once cooked, remove from the oven and set aside to cool.  While the butternut squash is cooling chop your red pepper and avocado into cubes and rinse a tin of chick peas, add these to a large bowl along with your salad leaves and toss with your salad dressing (I made a quick dressing from olive oil, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard and a pinch of salt and pepper).  Add in your cooled butternut squash and diced mango and if you fancy it a few cashew nuts and you are ready to go.  I managed to forget the add the mango until we were halfway through the meal…opps!

I'm Singing In The Rain...

As there doesn’t seem to be any let up in the rain coming any time soon I thought I should embrace it and up my wet weather fashion game and what perfect timing as Hunter Original made their debut at London Fashion Week this week (you can watch the show here) .  I’m not convinced about the high heeled wellies, but with Alasdhair Willis now at the helm as Creative Director the brand is going from strength to strength.

I would like to add these two pairs from the current collection to my wardrobe

And The Winner Is...

This year was the first year in a while that I wasn’t at the BAFTAs, but it didn’t stop me swooning over some of the gorgeous dresses on the red carpet and dreaming up what I would have worn had I been there!

My winning look of the night has to be Lupita Nyong’o in Dior Couture, the colour is perfect and really pops against the red carpet.

My highly commended go to Naomie Harris in Gucci, great colour again and perfectly simple and elegant

32 Weeks...

32 weeks today…8 weeks left…4 weeks left at work!

This past week I’ve been feeling pretty good.  I’ve been trying to take it easier at the weekends, rather than squishing as much in as possible and it seems to have helped my energy levels.  Baby O is still very wriggly, but he definitely seems to be quieter at weekends, maybe as a result of me doing more?  I can tell space is starting to get tight in there for him as his movements are so strong now.  I know I say it every week, but it really is the best feeling.  Mr O is starting to catch more of his movements now, which is great…it’s crazy to think in just a couple of months he’ll be here!

Still no stretch marks…I’m really hoping to keep avoiding them for the next 8 weeks, fingers crossed the Clarins Body Tonic will keep doing its thing!

Sleep-wise things are getting better.  I tend to wake up a couple of times in the night with a pain in my left leg (I’m sleeping on my left), but after a quick trip to the bathroom and a plumping of my pregnancy pillow I am able to get back to sleep fairly quickly.  Hopefully this will continue.

Putting my socks and shoes on has me out of breath these days and my pregnancy waddle is becoming more graceful every day, but I wouldn’t change a bit of it, I feel like the luckiest girl ever.

Weekend Round Up...

This weekend was a good one…the rain stopped and the sun shone – for a little while at least!

On Saturday I headed off to the Hollywood Arms in Chelsea for the gorgeous Yummy Mummy To Be Cordelia’s baby shower.  The private room upstairs in the Hollywood Arms was the perfect setting, complete with storks on the wall paper!  Cordelia made the cake herself and it was probably one of the best cakes I have ever eaten.

Not content with filling my tummy with cakes and sandwiches, I met up with Mr O and a couple of friends at The Rum Kitchen in Notting Hill.  The boys, being big rum fans, made a good effort working their way through the cocktail menu while I settled for one of the most delicious salads I’ve had in a long while and will be attempting to recreate at home soon – roasted pumpkin, chickpea, red pepper, mango, avocado, toasted coconut flakes and a mild scotch bonnet and lime dressing.  All that goodness has to cancel out the earlier cake!  No photos I'm afraid, I was too busy eating!

Sunday was a bit more relaxed, skyping with much missed friends on the other side of the world, followed by a spot of shopping (Forever 21 accessories I love you!) and all finished off with delicious truffle mac and cheese (recipe courtesy of vmac & cheese), seriously I think I would eat this everyday if I could!!

Dream On Dreamer...

I think I have mentioned before that Mr O and I are currently in a one bedroom flat which we know will be fine for Baby O’s first few months as he’ll be in our bedroom.  We are hoping to move next summer, cue lots of pointless rightmove and zoopla stalking from me, but in the meantime that has not stopped me planning my dream nursery for Baby O on Pinterest!

Here are a few of my favourite pins…

I’m really drawn to a white and grey colour scheme with pops of colour here and there

I love these Alphabet prints from Paul Thurlby and they would add the requisite pop of colour…I’m thinking either spelling out Baby O’s name or grouping the whole alphabet as a gallery wall

I’m hoping that I’ll be able to DIY some inspirational art, at some point, similar to these two

And as this is a dream nursery I would have a gallery wall dedicated to Sharon Montrose baby animal prints

My favourites are the zebra, giraffe and monkey…too cute!

And if we’re talking dreams I would add this print in for me!

NYFW...

New York Fashion Week kicked off last Thursday and there were some seriously gorgeous looks out there.  Here are a few of my favourites that I will be attempting to imitate this coming autumn/winter…although if I had a choice though spring/summer is definitely my preferred season!

Jenny Packham – I love everything about this outfit.  The laidback top with an over the top formal skirt is perfect.  Not sure how well it would go down on the Hammersmith roundabout though!

Karen Walker – I am a big fan of Karen Walker's sunglasses and I am now a fan of her clothes.  This dress is so simple yet elegant.

Victoria Beckham – If I was 5’11” rather than 5’1” I would totally rock this outfit!

Marc by Marc Jacobs – The stacked trainers showcased at Marc by Marc Jacobs look suspiciously like the Buffalo boots I thought were oh so cool circa. 1996.  One trend I won’t be re-visiting anytime soon!
